Nicolás Lodeiro named to provisional Uruguay squad for WC Qualifiers

Lodeiro shouldn’t miss any matches for the Sounders

Seattle Sounders FC’s new talismanic midfielder, Nicolás Lodeiro, has been named by the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) to a provisional 23-man squad for Uruguay’s two World Cup Qualifying matches in September.

The final squad will be announced in the next week, and players begin training on August 29, and the two matches are against Argentina on September 1 and Paraguay on September 6th.

If Lodeiro is named to the final squad, it’s unlikely that he would miss any matches for the Sounders—but all that travel and potential playing time could contribute to the player’s overall level of fatigue. The Sounders play away to the Portland Timbers on August 28, and away to San Jose Earthquakes on September 10.
