The Sounders took to the pitch at CenturyLink Field determined to prove they still have what it takes to be a playoff team in MLS this season, and, well, didn’t necessarily do that. What they did do was create many chances, many of which were directly related to the play of one Nicolás Lodeiro. The new designated player adapted quickly to the surface and the players around him, and it’s exciting to think what fans might see from him in the coming weeks.
How did Jordan Morris do out wide (even if only nominally)? How many of those shots should have gone in the net? How did the other Sounders do in adjusting to the presence of a new playmaker roaming the pitch?
Time to rate the players.
Here's the scale:
(Substitutes can be left blank if the player did not play enough to judge)
1 - not a pro (USL/NASL/MLS) quality performance
4 - average USL starter
6 - average MLS starter
9 - MLS All Star
10 - MLS MVP-quality performance
