Seattle has a massive opportunity in San Jose and while they will not be in the prized 6th playoff spot with a win, they’ll sit in 7th right behind Portland with game(s) in hand. Portland kicks off at the same time against an RSL side that should be able to get a point off them, meaning a two point difference with two in hand if Seattle can beat San Jose. The Earthquakes need this more than we do but are slumping with only two wins from their last 15 matches.
San Jose is not a top offensive club and is missing Quincy Amarikwa and Anibal Godoy who have pushed tempo this season. Defensively, the ‘Quakes do not give up many goals but they also have not faced a talent like Nicolas Lodeiro.
Cole Baker will serve as an honorary captain for San Jose, an eleven year old with stage IV neuroblastoma and will be part of the club’s Root Beer Float night.
Keys to the Game:
- Find a early goal
- Do not lose track of Chris Wondolowski
- Morris vs. Bernandez and Wynne
- Limit Crosses
