The good news is that Roman Torres is getting his first Sounders start since his injury, against the San Jose Earthquakes. As Brad Evans is out injured Osvaldo Alonso takes the captain’s armband and Tyrone Mears remains the starting right back.
Alonso is partnered with Erik Friberg in the midfield which should help Seattle’s long ball completion ratio. Cristian Roldan is not sitting, instead he starts as the right midfield in the band with Nicolas Lodeiro and Andreas Ivanschitz.
Jordan Morris is up top, of course.

Brian Schmetzer’s bench is full of attacking talent that needs to provide a punch if called upon.

Fernandez can take over as a box-to-box mid and Roldan can slide back if Alonso or Friberg need replacing.
David Bingham and Victor Bernardez are starting for San Jose despite some injury concerns. The Bernardez start means that Cato can slide into a more attacking role.
