There have been no shortage of quality players to strip on the Seattle Sounders uniform over the years. Kasey Keller and Roger Levesque — to name two — even had particularly memorable going-away matches. Keller’s final regular-season game was played in front of a then-record crowd who saw him make the amazing triple-save that might be his most impressive moment in a Sounders uniform. Levesque’s final match was a friendly against defending Champions League winner’s Chelsea.
But no one has been given a formal “testimonial.” Well, at least until now.
ECS and the Sounders will be giving Zach Scott a testimonial on March 1, 2017 at Memorial Stadium. Tickets will start at $10.20 and go on sale Oct. 24, 2016.
There are no other details at this time, but traditionally the matches were designed to give players extra income as they headed into retirement. The sides are often filled out by a mix of current and former players, not so unlike the Steve Zakuani and Friends match earlier this year.
