In high heat it was the team from the cool Pacific Northwest that looked the better side in the second half, scoring three times to earn their 4-2 win over the LA Galaxy. Jordan Morris recorded his first multi-goal game as a pro. It is Seattle Sounders FC’s first win over the Galaxy in LA since 2009.
Here’s Jordan’s first goal. It’s a display of his speed and propensity to use his right foot.
This is Jordan’s second goal. It’s a display of his passing ability and his left foot.
While Jordan Morris was destroying a bunch of narratives about his abilities, Osvaldo Alonso scored the Gears of War 4 branded goal (see, four goals were scored) to insure the victory.
LA would try to regain their confidence and attempt a comeback through Steven Gerrard. The Liverpool legend fell over in the box, somehow earning a penalty. Robbie Keane finished it, but that 84th-minute goal was too late.
Too late would be the theme of the night for LA. Their defense was too late covering Morris on his speedy run, their subs were too late and too old to try a comeback (they inserted Donovan, Gerrard and Gordon).
Galaxy took the one-nil lead off a brilliant Robbie Keane finish in the 20th minute. Stefan Frei was needed to keep the Sounders within one goal.

It was LA’s own error that gave the Sounders life. Jelle Van Damme lost Chad Marshall on a corner, found him, and then lost the ball knocking it into his own net.
After a first half that went the Galaxy’s way, the Sounders came out as the much better side. Their second 45 were as strong as they’ve looked in 2016. Nothing could stop Morris.
The win ends LA’s quest for an undefeate- at-home 2016. It also means the Sounders are still 7th in the West, three points behind Portland with two games in hand. One of those games is this Wednesday night at 7:30 PM at CenturyLink Field against the Chicago Fire (the worst team in the league).
