By now we know the big storyline: The Sounders are in a playoff position for the first time in 2016, and it’s thanks to Andreas Ivanschitz “cultured left foot” and Chad Marshall’s forehead.
Other than that moment, the Chicago Fire did a good job frustrating Seattle. The Sounders had willing energy (despite being a repeat lineup on short rest), but at times the end product wasn’t quite right.
So, time to rate the individual players in this one. Who showed they were up for a second match in a few days, and who didn’t? How do you rate Nicolas Lodeiro, who was incredibly active as always but failed to record a goal or an assist (unusual for him).
Just a few more to go, folks.
Here's the scale:
(Substitutes can be left blank if the player did not play enough to judge)
1 - not a pro (USL/NASL/MLS) quality performance
4 - average USL starter
6 - average MLS starter
9 - MLS All Star
10 - MLS MVP-quality performance
