MLS Cup will air on FOX, UniMás

Yes, over-the-air FOX will carry the MLS Cup and not compete with the NFL. Full playoff schedule also announced.

The last time the MLS Cup was on over-the-air English language network was back in 2008. Sigi Schmid’s Columbus Crew. In 2016 FOX will air the Saturday December 10th match (time and venue to be determined). UniMás has the Spanish language rights. TSN and RDS are the Canadian partners.

Today’s announcement means that MLS Cup will not go up against the NFL, nor NCAA Division I conference championships. MLS also announced that the league’s playoff schedule will respect the FIFA international dates from November 7th to November 15th. That gap is in-between the Conference semis and the Conference Finals.

If the Seattle Sounders make a playoff run they may need to play on NFL lines, if they are the higher seed (quite doubtful) in the Western Conference semis (November 6th). If the incredible happens and they make the Western Conference Finals the 1st leg would need to be rescheduled as the Seahawks play at home on November 20th.
