At least two Seattle Sounders will be called up during the upcoming FIFA window for international friendlies. Nicolas Lodeiro has been named to Uruguay’s roster for a pair of friendlies on Nov. 10 and 14, while Panama has called in Roman Torres for friendlies Nov. 9 and 14.
While probably not ideal, this shouldn’t be a huge deal even if the Sounders advance to the Western Conference finals, as the first leg isn’t scheduled until Nov. 21. That would give Torres, Lodeiro and anyone else who’s likely to be called up at least week to get ready.
Among the other players with recent international call-ups, Gustav Svensson is probably the most likely to join Sweden for their World Cup qualifying playoff games against Italy on Nov. 10 and 13. Nouhou could also be called in for Cameroon’s World Cup qualifier against Zambia on Nov. 6.
Less likely to be called in, especially if the Sounders are still playing, are United States national team players Clint Dempsey, Cristian Roldan and Jordan Morris. Although the USMNT is visiting Portugal on Nov. 14, that roster will likely be heavy on younger players and those based in Europe.
