Football Manager 2018 - the newest edition of Sega’s dearly beloved and disturbingly addictive soccer simulation franchise - drops today, November 10th. The latest iteration boasts a host of new features, including updated team dynamics, a fully revamped scouting system that embraces the analytical side of the game, a simplified tactical interface, improved matchday graphics and presentation, a more realistic representation of the financial side of the game, and many more.
“Aaron, that sounds wonderful! But what does that have to do with me?” Well, first and most importantly - I agree. It does sound wonderful, and having played the game I can attest to the fact that it is, in fact, quite wonderful. That was a very astute observation, and I’m proud of you for making it. And to answer your question, dear reader, it has a great deal to do with you! Because we’re going to play this game together, and we’re going to have a very good time doing it.
Here’s the basic idea: I start a new FM save, and we’ll check in periodically. I’ll manage things on a day-to-day basis, but with each new post we’ll have a major decision to make that will be left entirely up to the Sounder At Heart Community. That will also be your opportunity to tell me what a terrible job I’m doing (probably true) and to provide any additional suggestions about strategy going forward.
Sounds fun, right? We’ll be playing as the Sounders, obviously, so feel free to drop any suggestions about roster moves, tactical setups, or scouting approaches into the comments below.
