For the Seattle Sounders to defend their MLS Cup they must beat the first team to eject them from the MLS Cup Playoffs. In 2009 it was the Houston Dynamo who were the mighty powers, recently with two MLS Cups and favored. It took until extra time in the second leg for the Dynamo to beat the upstart Sounders.
After the first leg road victory the Sounders are well setup to return to the MLS Cup. The two-nil win with two road goals mean that any win, any draw, any one-goal loss for Seattle advances the Sounders. If Houston wins two-nil there would be extra time at CenturyLink Field. Any other Dynamo win by two or more goals means that their miraculous comeback put them in the Final.

Leg one’s goal scorers were Gustav Svensson and former Dynamo forward Will Bruin. Leg two will take place without Roman Torres and Alberth Elis due to yellow card accumulation. Jalil Anibaba is suspended for a red card in leg one.
