Unlike previous years, this year’s Sounders Annual Business Meeting is not open to all season-ticket holders. Rather, the event will be held in front of a considerably smaller audience at TheNinety in Pioneer Square and live-streamed. Along with Sounders season-ticket holders who won tickets to the event in a lottery, we’ll be there to share details.
This year’s event is not expected to have anything on the scale of last year’s announcement that Brian Schmetzer would become the team’s “permanent” head coach, but there is almost always something noteworthy to come out of the meeting.
The event will formally start at 7 PM and is scheduled to run until 8:30 PM. Among the featured speakers are Sounders majority owner Adrian Hanauer, minority owner Joe Roth, Head Coach Brian Schmetzer, Sporting Director Chris Henderson, General Manager Garth Lagerwey, Tacoma Rainiers President Aaron Artman, and Alliance Council president Stephanie Steiner and VP Martin Buckley.
There will be a question-and-answer session — built from questions submitted electronically — and there are sure to be ones about increased ticket prices, the club’s policy on signage, and issues with entering and leaving the stadium.
