This year, the pilfering grab-arses who want to steal our players reside in the City of Angels, where Bob Bradley is already starting to assemble his inaugural roster. Last year, Seattle had none of its players picked by either Atlanta or Minnesota, and this year only one team is picking, so only five of the 22 MLS teams will lose a player.
But still there’s a chance we lose a player, and as in years past, we give you a chance to weigh in on whom we should protect. Homegrown players (of which we have four) and GA players (of which we have none) do not need to be protected (and can’t be protected in our tool). And although in the real rules players with no-trade contracts MUST be protected, we don’t enforce that requirement. So if you really don’t want to protect Clint Dempsey, that’s a choice your black, uncaring heart can make. And there are some rules about how many internationals you can leave exposed, but those are complicated, so we don’t enforce them either.
