In 2017 the Seattle Sounders are retiring the cursed Olympic Whites and releasing a new alternate kit. Their primary will remain the Rave Green with blue sleeves. The Pacific Blue third kits remain, for this year, as well. The release date has remained hidden, until now.
This signage showed up in White Center near Taqueria La Fondita recently, and mentions Thursday, February 23rd. The team will be in Charleston for the Carolina Challenge Cup from the 16th to the 25th.

It matches previous hints that the alternate kit would be inspired by the club’s NASL history. The large 25 is almost certainly a reference to the kit that Brian Schmetzer had in the video announcing his hire as head coach.

The colors are the classic NASL Sounders colors. This implies that the throwback does not use the modern colors in a retro design, but instead uses classic versions of blue and green. Using “Born in ‘74” is another tip to the past.
It will be interesting to see how a kit from the early 80s is adapted into Adidas’ modern vision for soccer. Now, we just have to wait a couple of weeks.
