With just two weeks left to fine tune fitness and tactics the Seattle Sounders face off against the Charleston Battery in the Carolina Challenge Cup. Brian Schmetzer wants to focus on his starters working together and being able to go 90 in their opener on March 4th.
This will be the first time we’ll see Clint Dempsey, Nicolas Lodeiro and Jordan Morris. Due to injuries (Shipp, Kovar) it is unlikely that we’ll know the 4th attacker in an ideal lineup, but we will get glimpses of the offense that was so dominant in August of 2016.
In defense, the Sounders will be without their first and second choice right backs. Plus, Alonso is unlikely to play more than a few courtesy minutes in front of the town where he first played pro soccer.
