As the Seattle Sounders continue the 2017 preseason with the Carolina Challenge Cup, they do so with a 30-man roster that seems close to set for the year, barring new additions and the expected Sounders FC 2 signings at the tail end of the squad.

Gone are several trialists and Sounders academy players who were guests with the first team in Tucson for the Desert Friendlies. Of those who featured in the Tucson games, defenders Jake Stovall and Gale Agbossoumonde didn’t make the cut. Neither did midfielder Dominic Oduro or Shandon Hopeau.

Two young academy players remain with the team; defender Jake Morris and mid Sam Rogers are with the squad in Charleston. Veteran defender trialist Darrius Barnes also made the list. Filling out the septet of unsigned players are defender Brian Nana-Sinkham, midfielders Jordy Delem and Zach Mathers, and forward David Olsen.

Three matches against a USL squad, an expansion MLS team and an established side over the next week will determine if the coaching staff needs to shore up any positions with veteran depth or if they are happy with their team heading into the regular season.
