Due to high demand more tickets are available for the home opener against the New York Red Bulls on March 19 (4 PM, FS1). The Seattle Sounders will have MLS Cup giveaways and are raising their first-ever MLS Cup banner into the rafters at CenturyLink Field.
They have currently expanded availability in the upper 300s on the east side of CLink. At this time there are seats in 306 to 312, but not 309. The team also has both flex packs (we picked nine games for you) and half season packages in 2017.
“We're thrilled at the excitement surrounding our upcoming home-opener and, indeed, the entire 2017 season,” said Sounders FC Chief Operating Officer Bart Wiley. “We have the best fans in MLS and the demand for additional seating shows just how dedicated this region is to supporting its Sounders. The club is looking forward to providing a special Championship experience at the opener, in conjunction with the rest of the Championship Celebration events.”
The celebration events include watch parties for the first two away matches (The Atlantic Crossing to watch the opener against the Dynamo, The Westy to see the match against Montreal). The MLS Cup and radio partner KIRO 97.3 FM Seattle will be present at both events.
Despite opening the season on the road, the Sounders are starting their championship celebration with the Zach Scott Testimonial (MrSounder.com for tickets). On March 2nd they will participate in the Pioneer Square Artwalk. Again, the MLS Cup will be present.
Here’s the thing Sounders fans. If you live around Puget Sound you should see the MLS Cup. You should be at the home opener. Seattle’s championship history is sparse. At the highest levels our fine city has two WNBA titles, an NBA title, a Super Bowl win and this MLS Cup. That’s it.
Sure, the team could win more MLS Cups. It’s won plenty of trophies, but this is the first one. The next one comes later, maybe much later. Sonics fans know that pain too well.
Be there if you can. See the MLS Cup at a different event if you cannot. Bask in the glow of a trophy crafted by Tiffany & Co that the Sounders won for you.
