It will likely come as little surprise, but the oddsmakers like the Seattle Sounders’ chances of repeating as MLS Cup champions. Bovada put out their latest odds and the Sounders are are pegged as third favorites.

As you can see, the New York Red Bulls — who the Sounders play at home on March 19 — have the best odds at 5/1. Coming in second is Toronto FC at 11/2 which is actually 5.5/1. Seattle and the LA Galaxy are tied at third best at 6/1. Seattle’s odds have actually gotten better since Dec. 14 when they were originally at 7/1.
Now if you are betting man or woman and like to live dangerously, you could take a flier on either Atlanta United or Minnesota United — the leagues two newest expansion sides. Atlanta’s odds actually improved dramatically from 100/1 to 66/1 while Minnesota’s got worse, 100/1 to 125/1.
Enough about all of these other teams, I know you really only care about the Sounders. We know the Sounders don’t need to get off to a blistering start — remember 2016 until July — but the Sounders would help themselves greatly with a good start. That being said, they have five of their first seven games on the road.
It won’t be easy but I have a feeling this is going to be a really good team at the end of the year. Remember, it’s not how you start but how you finish.
