Three Big Storylines:
Minnesota United will have their franchise opener on Sunday against fellow expansion side Atlanta United. Both expansion teams lost their opening game, Atlanta lost at home 2-1 to the New York Red Bulls while Minnesota lost at Portland 5-1. United of Minnesota will host United of Atlanta in TCF Bank Stadium, the home of University of Minnesota. Minnesota United are building a soccer specific stadium that holds 21,500 to open in 2018, thus this year will be played in Goldy Gopher’s home digs. Over 30,000 tickets have been sold for the opener with tickets still moving fast.
Weather is going to be a recurring theme across MLS this weekend and the orange ball is in play.

Since that statement came out, the New England Revolution have already cancelled their game this weekend with Orlando City SC. It is rescheduled for September 2nd. With game time temperature predicted for 22 degrees with 20 mph wind, the choice was easy and made on Friday morning.
To cap off MLS week 2, the LA Galaxy host the Portland Timbers (TV information below). The Galaxy lost their opener at home to FC Dallas and will not want to start the season off with two home losses, while the Timbers will try to carry in the momentum of three late goals leading to a flattering 5-1 scoreline in their opener.
From a Sounders Point of View:
Seattle Sounders fans will want to keep an eye on the early UniMas game on Saturday as the New York Red Bulls host the Colorado Rapids. The Red Bulls will be in Seattle next Sunday for the home opener and the Rapids were a team that finished second in the Supporters’ Shield in 2016 but all year this space was questioning their bona fides as a top MLS team.
