Will Bruin saw our 'true love story' video and he loved it

Sounders forward says “what happens on the field stays on the field.”

Seattle Sounders FC striker Will Bruin scored his first goal for his new club last weekend in Montreal, a real poacher’s effort that sealed the Sounders’ first point of the season.

But something else stood out to some fans: Bruin’s celebrations with teammate Osvaldo Alonso. If you’ll remember, Alonso and Bruin had a bit of a scuffle near the end of last season in Houston, which led to a red card for the former. But as we saw in Montreal, the two seem to have made up since the incident in Houston. Sounder at Heart contributor LikkitP added some music to a mash-up of the two sequences found on Reddit.

Sounders head coach Brian Schmetzer mentioned during preseason training that the coaching staff were unsure if there would be any lingering bitterness, though he didn’t really expect any. Bruin shrugged off any idea, saying that both he and Alonso are professionals. “What happens on the field stays on the field. We’re both competitors, we leave things on the field. Even after that game, you have a handshake and it’s over and onto the next one. I don’t think either have us have really thought about it.”

Bruin tweeted about Likkit’s video on Monday, and he told the media on Tuesday that “I thought the video was hilarious, by the way. The way it was edited it was really funny, and the music was great.”

Now that he’s got a goal under his belt for the Sounders, Bruin said that he is feeling more comfortable in a rave green jersey. “Whenever you get your first goal for a team, you feel more like you’re a part of the group.” Bruin also said that he’s “super excited” to play at CenturyLink Field for the first time as a Sounder, “as opposed to coming as a visitor.”
