With World Cup qualifying a bit in doubt, USMNT coach Bruce Arena is turning to the Seattle Sounders for offense. He called both Jordan Morris and Clint Dempsey into the 24-man roster that will be available to face Honduras on March 24 and Panama on March 28. The Sounders do not play a league match during the international break, but do face Necaxa in a club friendly.
Nicolas Lodeiro and Roman Torres have also been called up to represent their nations, Uruguay and Panama respectively. It is likely that Joevin Jones joins Trinidad and Tobago.
Morris has 14 caps and 2 goals with the senior United States national team. He will compete with Jozy Altidore, Clint Dempsey and Bobby Wood for playing time.
The USA is at the bottom of the hex after two rounds. They have zero points and a negative five goal differential. The top three advance to the World Cup in Russia. The fourth place team faces off against the AFC’s fifth place team.
No other Sounders made the final roster.
