S2 face Oregon State at Starfire, 1:00 p.m., Saturday

Players have one last chance to impress in S2’s final preseason game while the team looks to improve defensively.

Seattle Sounders FC 2’s final preseason match features what should be their easiest opponent yet in Oregon State University. The Beavers struggled in the 2016-17 NCAA season, finishing second bottom in the Pac-12. S2 is just about rounding into form and should be able to dominate Oregon State.

Priority number one for S2 will be to get the spine of their defense sorted. They have struggled to stop attacks up the middle so far this preseason; hopefully another week of familiarity with each other will improve communication and positioning.

Aside from monitoring the defense’s progress, it will be interesting to see which players go 70+ minutes. That will be the best indicator yet of who has earned a starting spot for S2’s first 2017 USL match. Also of note will be whether Alcides Thomas and Ethan Lotenero can maintain their high level of play from last week.

Sounders 2 versus Oregon State University is set to kick-off at 1:00 p.m. on March 18. The match will take place at Starfire. Admittance to the match is free but parking at the sports complex is usually $5 on Saturdays.
