Nicolas Lodeiro will have to miss out on the Rave Green friendly against Club Necaxa after being named to Uruguay’s 24-man World Cup Qualifying squad. Nico’s call-up was widely expected as he has been a regular with his national side but the roster release confirms it.

Uruguay sits in second with 23 points, four points behind Brazil and three ahead of Ecuador and Chile, through 12 of the 18 qualifiers. They face Brazil and Peru on the 23rd and 28th of March respectively, meaning the midfielder should not miss any competitive matches for Seattle.

The Sounders play their first home match against the Red Bulls on the 19th and do not play in MLS until the 31st, at home against MLS newcomers Atlanta United. While unfortunate that he’ll miss the Club Necaxa friendly, but he was likely going to play a small part in order to avoid an injury early on in the year.
