At least one sports reporter in Chicago is asking the important questions. Specifically, how exactly will Bastian Schweinsteiger improve the Chicago Fire's chances of winning the World Cup?

Perhaps the noncommittal response from the German international betrays a lack of the bold ambition that Chicago so desperately needs (satire).

Mike Petke will be making his return to MLS coaching by taking over at Real Salt Lake. Given his relative success with the Red Bulls and current position with the Real Monarchs, it seemed an obvious choice.

Atlanta United's permanent home, Mercedez-Benz Stadium, has run into another delay, but so far it is not believed that it will affect the MLS match schedule.

There is no denying that Minnesota United has struggled mightily on defense in their opening weeks, but is there a case to be made that they have the worst defense in MLS history?

Over at E Pluribus Loonum they are asking themselves if their current state should have been expected, and predicting how their season results may stack up.

It always seems strange when expansion team start to sign players well in advance of their first match. LAFC signed their first player recently and Angels on Parade has taken a stab at explaining why.

In news for both the LA Galaxy and the US National team, Sebastian Lletget's injury has been upgraded from a foot sprain to a more serious status that will require surgery and at least 4 months of recovery.

Tim Howard is one of the latest to raise the prospect that Pulisic could end up in the rarefied category of world dominant stars.

Grant Wahl believes that Bruce Arena's sarcastic nature in many of his interviews can be used as a window into the attitude of the current USMNT.

Dempsey very clearly has built his case for keeping his spot on the roster up to and through this complete world cup cycle.

Behind Cristian and Dempsey, there are definitely still concerns, and the midfield in particular seems in need of an upgrade.

Even LAG Confidential is concerned by the performance of their own central midfielder, Jermaine Jones.

Finally, SB Nation has an updated state of the national team on their drive to World Cup qualification.

Messi's recent suspension was big news, but it's also important to look at the changes to officiating that have led us down the path to this type of decision.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been having a pretty good week, and even got an airport named after him. That being said, it's hard to ignore the fact that the bust of him unveiled for the ceremony was not exactly flattering.
