After horrific collision, Andy Rose says he’s ‘feeling better’

Former Sounders midfielder was carted off field and match was delayed nearly 20 minutes as he received treatment.

When Andy Rose clashed heads with an opponent in the opening minutes of Coventry City’s match on Saturday, the worst was feared. The former Sounders midfielder remained on the field for nearly 20 minutes before finally being carted off with his neck in a brace. Turns out, it may have looked worse than it really was.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, Rose thanked everyone for the well wishes and said he’s feeling better with not much more than a headache.

It’s been a rough year for Rose, or, more specifically, Coventry City. The 27-year-old joined the Sky Blues last year at a time when promotion from League One seemed almost like a sure thing. But a late slide left them in eighth.

The slide got worse in 2016-17. Coventry City currently sits in last place on the 24-team table. To avoid relegation to League Two, they’d have to jump four teams and need to make up 13 points on Oldham Athletic in the season’s final 11 matches.
