Sounders change kickoff times for three 2017 home matches

This is most likely to avoid traffic issues with nearby Seattle Mariners games

2016 MLS Cup - Seattle Sounders v Toronto FC

The Seattle Sounders and MLS announced earlier this week that three of the Sounders games have had their scheduled kickoff times changed. This is probably to accommodate the Seattle Mariners, who have home games at Safeco Field on all but one of these dates. The first game changed, and probably the most intriguing, is against Toronto FC on May 6.

Yes, the highly anticipated MLS Cup Final rematch will be in Seattle. Rest assured, it will be a lot warmer this time around. We may even get to see the sun. The sun does exist here in Seattle right? I digress.

Originally, the game had a kickoff time of 1:00 pm but it has been pushed up one hour to 12:00 pm and will be a national broadcast on ESPN. There will also be a Seattle Mariners game later in the day at 6:10 pm.

The July 23 match against the San Jose Earthquakes has been pushed back 30 minutes to 7:30 pm and will be aired locally on JOEtv. Earlier in the day, the Mariners will be playing across the street at Safeco Field at 1:10 pm.

Lastly, the Oct 15 match against FC Dallas has been moved from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm and will also air on JOEtv. You know the Mariners won’t be in town that day—they aren’t sure what October baseball is anymore.

Even though it’s not a home match, the LA Galaxy match in Carson, CA on July 29 now has a time and broadcast information after originally being listed as TBD. The game is currently scheduled to kickoff at 7:00 pm and will be shown nationally on ESPN.
