Beverly Yanez is up for Goal of the Week for her wonderful goal with the outside of her left foot. At the time, her goal doubled the Reign’s lead to 2-0.

Speaking of injuries, FC Dallas’ Ryan Hollingshead made his return to action after a car accident on January 7. Hollingshead had stopped to help a fellow motorist and was hit by another car and thrown 30 feet. The accident broke three vertebrae in his neck.

US Soccer president Sunil Gulati might have a challenger in the 2018 election. Boston attorney Steven Gans is considering mounting a serious attempt for the spot.

USL side Sacramento Republic FC have been acquired by an investor group in hopes to bolster the city’s Major League Soccer bid. Sac Soccer & Entertainment Holdings, the group that filed the bid in January, will become the new owners of the team.

Four teens from Mooresville, North Carolina started a service project called Soccer Around the World, and collected soccer equipment to send to Mongolia. They collected about 50 pairs of cleats and will be sending the equipment in July.

The second round of the 2017 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup will begin today, and eight USL teams will be hosting games. Only one USL team will be playing on Tuesday, but 15 others will play on Wednesday.
