How to Watch MLS on Unimas MLS Watercolorist

Three Big Storylines:

  1. The Colorado Rapids open MLS weekend with a Cinco de Mayo Friday night home game hosting the Vancouver Whitecaps (7:00 PM, MLS Live). After finishing only two points below the Supporters’ Shield winner in 2016 the Rapids have struggled to start 2017 with only four points from seven played. Their five goals scored is last in MLS by three goals. On a positive note, the Rapids will have Tim Howard back in goal as his suspension has been served. The Whitecaps will be looking to make it two road wins in a row after winning in Montreal 2-1 last week.
  2. Saturday night features a pair of intriguing Western Conference battles as Real Salt Lake host FC Dallas (6:30 PM, MLS Live) and the Portland Timbers travel to San Jose to take on the Earthquakes (7:30 PM, MLS Live). Rio Tinto Stadium will see the return of Javier Morales to Utah as he signed with FC Dallas this offseason. Morales is RSL’s all time leader in assists, second in goals and third in appearances.
  3. Sunday’s national TV doubleheader starts with Minnesota United hosting Sporting Kansas City. Sporting sit atop the Western Conference standings heading into the weekend with 18 points from nine played. To finish the weekend, UniMas has moved to Sunday this week and will feature Atlanta United heading to Yankee Stadium to play New York City FC. The big news out of NYCFC this week is that David Villa has signed an extension to keep him in baby blue through the 2018 season.

From a Sounders Point of View:

The Vancouver Whitecaps are currently one spot above the Sounders in the Western Conference table due to the first tiebreaker, wins. Let’s fix that this weekend, go Rapids. Although a draw would be just fine on Friday night.

The Houston Dynamo host Orlando City on Saturday (5:30 PM, MLS Live). Let’s cheer for Cyle Larin and a recently returned from injury Kaka to get three points.

Here’s hoping Real Salt Lake ruin the aforementioned return of Javier Morales and take three points from FC Dallas. Portland returning to their drawing ways of years past would be great, let’s cheer for a draw in the Earthquakes v Timbers. And look for the Chicago Fire and Bastian Schweinsteiger to get all three points in Carson as they take on the LA Galaxy on Saturday night (7:30 PM, MLS Live).
