Seattle
Seattle Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei is up for Save of the Week. Frei made a wonderful left-handed save on Jozy Altidore’s shot from the top of the box in the 40th minute.
Jess Fishlock of the Seattle Reign is up for Goal of the Week. She scored a brilliant goal just 59 seconds into their game against the Portland Thorns. The Reign would leave Providence Park with only one point after drawing 2-2.
In the Latest NWSL power rankings, the Reign are up to fifth place of the ten team league after their draw against Portland — up two spots from last weekend.
MLS
With week ten in the books, take a look at some of the tifos that were displayed across the league. New York City FC recognized a new supporters’ group — NYCSC (New York City Supporters Club) — and the new group displayed a tifo honoring Gotham’s diversity.
The New England Revolution reacquired Gershon Koffie on loan from Hammarby IF. Koffie appeared in 22 games with the Revs in 2016. Prior to playing for New England, he spent five years with the Vancouver Whitecaps.
According to MLSsoccer.com, New York City may be the best team in MLS so far, if you go by expected goals. They currently are third in the East, and have an expected goal differential of 5.47.
After being shutout for the fifth time this season, DC United is still looking to recapture offensive mojo from late 2016. United scored 33 goals in their final 13 games last season, but have only nine goals in nine games this year.
United States
We learned last week that Seattle would not be getting one of the final two World Cup qualifiers. US Soccer confirmed that Orlando is set to Host USA-Panama. The game will take place on October 6, but kickoff time has yet to be decided. ESPN and Univision Networks will broadcast live from Orlando City.
The Lamar Hunt US Open Cup starts today, with local amateur sides from the Premier Developmental League and National Premier Soccer League taking part (MLS clubs will join in the middle of next month). Will one of these teams make a fairy tale run and knock off the big dogs (or at least Portland)?
The United Soccer League is eager to expand to Baltimore. USL President Jake Edwards told the the Washington Post that league executives will meet there in the next two weeks to work out the details.
After Orlando City was blanked 4-0 by the Houston Dynamo this weekend, Kaká took in Rockets' playoff victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
There is no telling how long New York City will be playing at Yankee Stadium. Hudson River Blue believes that Mount Vernon is not a solution to the New York City FC Stadium Crisis.
The Chicago Fire were up 2-0 over the LA Galaxy just 16 minutes into the game. LA scored on two corner kicks, and Fire head coach Velkjo Paunovic says "casual" set-piece defense has limited them from being one of the top teams in the East.
Former Seattle Reign midfielder Kim Little is no longer the NWSL’s all-time leading scorer. That now belongs to Jessica McDonald of the North Carolina Courage after she scored the lone goal in their 1-0 victory over the Boston Breakers.
World
After losing 3-0 to Chelsea on Monday, Middlesbrough were relegated from the Premier League. They have only won one game in their last 19 in the Premier League. This season was the first time in seven years that they played in the top flight.
Future Atlanta United FC goalkeeper Brad Guzan had a horrible day on the pitch for Middlesbrough. He was nutmegged when it mattered. Repeatedly.

It’s been a rough six months for Chapecoense. Last November, they lost a majority of their players and coaches in a plane crash. They just won their first competitive competition title since, capturing the Santa Catarina state championship ahead of the start of the Brasileirao season.
There is someone out there that looks a lot like Lionel Messi. He looks so much like Messi, in fact, that police have detained him to prevent chaos.
