Facing Honduras in a virtual can’t-lose World Cup qualifier at home, Panama needed a goal. So naturally, they turned to Roman Torres.
The center back pushed forward and managed to get on the end of a ball in the box, scoring a 90th-minute equalizer that allowed Panama to rescue a point and keep them in fourth place in CONCACAF qualifying.

A loss would have allowed Honduras to jump Panama into fourth, which doesn’t come with an automatic qualifying spot but is good enough to get into a playoff with the fifth-place team in Asia.
Panama still trails Costa Rica and the United States by one point with four matches left to play.
