The LA Galaxy v Seattle Sounders rivalry just got a boost as Sigi Schmid returns to coaching his first game against the team that won MLS Cup in the same season they let him go. ESPN is carrying the Saturday July 29 match at 7 PM Pacific.
LA is bad. That’s why they fired Curt Onalfo. Just 9th in the Western Conference the Galaxy are an abysmal 1-6-3 -9 at home and just 6-10-4 -6 overall. Yes, they have a great road record.
Seattle is surging. The Sounders are the best in the West over the last six games with 11 points and a +5 goal differential. They are undefeated in their last five matches. Away from home there are problems. The 2-6-3 -7 record is not good. Overall Brian Schmetzer’s team is 5th in the West at 8-7-6 +1.
