Sounders vs Sporting KC, live stream: Game time, TV schedule and lineups

With first place on the line, if only until other league games are played, the Seattle Sounders have an advantage of knowing that Sporting Kansas City played a tough midweek game to advance in the US Open Cup. That likely means a somewhat reduced and less effective lineup, but Sounders coach Brian Schmetzer is not counting on that.

“People are writing about how they played 120 and penalties and have to travel, that’s a load of bullcrap,” said Schmetzer. “They’re still going to come here and try and win the game.”

It will be important for the Sounders to take advantage of the Sporks’ tired legs. A home team with only a game-a-week must run-and-gun. KC will try to slow the game through tactical fouls. The best way to deal with that is through a skillful move to avoid the tactic thereby exploiting space or by using set-pieces to threaten their goal.

Absences: Injury, international duty and suspension

Seattle: Brad Evans is out. Osvaldo Alonso is questionable.

Sporks: Cameron Porter is out.

Only Lamar Neagle and Roger Espinoza are in danger of accumulation suspension, but both are two yellows away from punishment.

Baldomero Toledo is the center referee. Allen Chapman is the VAR.
