On the shores of False Creek the Seattle Sounders have the opportunity to continue their charge up the Shield standings, and keep pressure on those chasing them for the Western Conference title. Hosts Vancouver Whitecaps also need to snag points, as they need to hold off the Earthquakes and Salt Lake. It will be a hotly contested match, even ignoring the rivalry.
This 7 PM midweek match is on JOEtv (10/22/110) and is the first of two Cascadia Cup matches in five days for Sounders. Wins in both matches will earn Seattle the rivalry cup.
Joevin Jones is not listed as absent, but is not in Vancouver today. That will impact Schmetzer’s gameplan against a team that enjoys success out wide. Sounders will also have to track former hero Fredy Montero, who is currently with the ‘Caps. Vancouver’s backline is prone to passing errors and can be pressured.
Absences: Injury, international duty and suspension
Seattle: Brad Evans is out. Lamar Neagle could miss the 18 as he is questionable.
Whitecaps: David Edgar is out for the season. Matias Laba is still out as well.
Ricardo Salazar is the center referee. Jose Carlos Rivero is the VAR.
