Way back in March these two teams were expected to contend for the Western Conference title and MLS Cup. Then the season got in the way. Seattle Sounders FC started slow but is now in middle of a strong, but flawed, run. They look like one of the four best teams in the West and could still return to, well, Toronto, for another MLS Cup. FC Dallas started strong, but is now fighting off San Jose and Salt Lake, potentially falling out of the playoff picture entirely.
Either team taking three points would be great for their perceived strengths as the stretch run takes shape. Those points are even more important than perception. Seattle can retake first. Dallas needs to stay above the red line in order to have a chance at greatness prior to an offseason that likely sees the departure of two of their best talents.
There are watch parties in Yakima, Renton, Frisco and of course, right here, among the greatest digital community the region has known.
