Hope Solo and the US Soccer Federation have reached an agreement to settle her grievance over the way she was suspended from the USWNT last year. The USWNT players’ association argued on her behalf that her suspension (over her “cowards” comments about the Swedish team) was excessive and wouldn’t have been handed out to a male player.

Major League Soccer

FC Dallas’s academy is the envy of every other MLS club, and it turns out the appeal goes beyond soccer. Mark Cuban says he wants to push towards emulating the formula in the NBA.

DC United seem to be doing things right by their diehard fans so far in the run up to the move to their new stadium. Renovation at Portland’s Providence Park will begin after the end of the current season, and construction will mean the Timbers will start 2018 and 2019 on road trips.

United States

The 2017 U17 World Cup is coming up in India, and John Hackworth has named his squad. Six MLS pros and six other players with MLS academy ties made the cut (but no Sounders).

The turf issue is back for the USWNT and US Soccer. Megan Rapinoe and the players are upset that many of their matches slated for the rest of the year will be on turf, after they felt they had an agreement with the federation in the CBA about avoiding the playing surface as much as possible when scheduling.

This kid playing pickup soccer at the side of the stadium during the Copa Sudamericana only needs one leg to score goals on his friends, and it’s pretty cool.

Carlos Tevez hasn’t exactly been a massive success in China, where he has appeared only 13 times and scored three goals for Shanghai Shenua. His coach said he is too overweight to play, and a week later Tevez has labelled Chinese players are “not good” and that China won’t be able to compete with traditional soccer countries even in 50 years.

After trying the “hush money” route to cover up alleged harassment and bullying England’s women’s team players, the FA has finally resorted to firing head coach Mark Sampson.
