Major Link Soccer: Did Edinson Cavani get bought off?

Sounders fans aren’t the only people who get crazy tattoos related to their team’s results; we may have invented it, but Atlanta United fans joined in after a Jeff Larentowicz goal. Now some charity may follow.

Remember when it was crazy that the Patriots were replacing the turf already? The Revs played on it only 24 hours before the Patriots were due to. That timeline resulted in a TFC-Revs game with football lines, and Michael Bradley was less than impressed.

NYCFC one day will need a new stadium because Yankee Stadium is just a bad option; that said, their new location may not be the best option either ,as the club bids to build in Belmont Park. For those who have no idea where that is, like me, it’s outside the boroughs and is likely a longer trip than Red Bull Arena is from Manhattan.

MLS has started to announce their 24 under 24 and no Sounders have shown up yet, but they have only announced the first four.

If Atlanta can continue their scoring barrage to finish the season, they’ll make the playoffs with Josef Martinez grabbing the Golden Boot by a handful of goals. This, though, is only possible because Tata Martino is a great coach.

Speaking of Martinez, is he for real in the MVP talk or not? I’d say yes, especially if Almiron is out and he keeps the scoring up, but see what NBC has to say.

United States

If the USMNT qualifies to the 2018 World Cup, we may know what their kits will look like after a design was leaked. They are pretty good.

Sofia Huerta went from US Youth International, to Mexico International, and now back to USWNT member. She’s making history with the Red Stars and Jill Ellis’ USWNT.

On a related note, the USWNT is angry with US Soccer again. They’ve done plenty of things to disappoint the NT, but this time it’s related to the CBA and venue choices for friendlies.

With politics and sports seeming more intertwined than ever, everyone seems to have an opinion. Politics can’t stay out of sport because sport is politics.

Have you heard of Decibel Bellini? I hadn’t till this New York Times article but the DJ/stadium announcer for Napoli has their fans rocking in Stadio San Paolo.

Elsewhere in Serie A Juventus’ president was suspended for a year after selling tickets to “ultras” that encouraged scalping.

Neymar was a massive signing for Paris Saint-Germain and while the team is denying it, the club may have offered Edinson Cavani a million euros to let Neymar take penalties.

To deny a player once with a tough save is good, twice is great, and three times is ridiculous, but four straight saves before a ball gets cleared is...I have no words. Just watch.
