Major Link Soccer: Bayern Munich fire Carlo Ancelotti

No big-name replacements lined up yet. Also, Ignacio Piatti extends with the Impact, and Lifetime misses the mark with an NWSL promo.

Jordan Morris has never let his Type 1 diabetes slow him down, and he used some of his free time to visit Seattle Children’s to talk to kids who are just learning to manage their diabetes and answer their questions.

Nicolas Lodeiro tells ESPNFC about how the locker room has changed this year, how teams have found it easier to mark him, and what grade he gives himself thus far for his performance.

Major League Soccer

The MLS 24 under 24 list is out, and Atlanta United’s players are unsurprisingly all over it, including the name you probably expect at No. 1. Now, about Alphonso Davies being nine spots above Cristian Roldan at No. 4...

Montreal Impact have reached an agreement to re-sign Ignacio Piatti beyond the end of his current contract in June 2018. The Argentine DP will be 33 at that point, but he has shown few signs of slowing down as one of the top midfielders in the league.

United States

Lifetime bought into NWSL in a big way, but do they have any idea what to do with their broadcast and sponsorship stake? This ad (or ‘PSA’ as Ellen Degeneres calls it), is an example of pretty tone-deaf marketing. No player or team names, no times or channels to tune in, no game action...and it feels like an celebrity awareness campaign for a disease.

The NASL/US Soccer lawsuit is just getting warmed up, and won’t be over anytime soon. But if the NASL can’t get the courts to take some kind of action within a couple of months, they won’t have enough time to prepare for another season as a Division 2 league.

Bruce Arena says kneeling protests are “appropriate” and that he doesn’t want to comment on politics, but that he doesn’t envision it being an issue for the USMNT players.

Speaking of those displays of protest, none of the NFL’s sponsors are panicking about them, with many of them staying silent or releasing statements supporting free speech for all views.

Emily Lima was the first female coach of the Brazil women’s national team, but she has been fired after a string of bad results, and several of the players aren’t happy about it. In fact, Cristiane, Rosana and Francielle have all decided to retire from the squad rather than play for another coach.

The reviews are coming out for FIFA 18 and its “Hunter Returns” story mode, and Polygon gives it high marks. They say the story is engaging and fun, and the gameplay mechanics feel like they’ve made a breakthrough, even if it’s a combination of many small tweaks.

Bayern Munich have parted ways with manager Carlo Ancelotti after their biggest Champions League group stage defeat in over 20 years, a 3-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Premier League’s biggest six clubs feel they deserve a bigger share of overseas TV revenue, since “in Kuala Lumpur, there isn’t anyone subscribing to ESPN to watch Bolton.”

Sergio Aguero reportedly was injured in a car accident after a concert in Holland, possibly breaking ribs, and he’ll miss at least two months for Manchester City.
