You’ve just been promoted to GM for the Seattle Sounders

Let’s face it: we’re full on in the middle of the offseason, the transfer season, the silly season and the Seattle Sounders haven’t made a move (except for signing Waylon Francis and Handwalla Bwana). What’s the deal? Everybody being signing everybody, except us. So, let’s change that.

Now, first thing’s first, obviously Seattle still has a pretty lit starting XI. Some of the players are on the wrong side of 30, but they’ve still got a good year or two left. We’ve got some nice younger pieces to the pie, and when you combine these young studs with these old dudes, we’ve got a solid team, even without any additions. So does that mean we should stand still during the middle of the transfer season?

Well, that’s where you come in. You’ve now been handed the keys and the checkbook. Garth Lagerwey needs your help and by golly, you’re gonna help him make these crucial decisions that will not only shape the Sounders’ 2018 season but also their future. Do you build for one last push for MLS Cup glory and focus on a reload? Do you rid yourself of anybody born prior to 1987 and retool on youth? I dunno, I’m not the General Manager of the Sounders, you are.

You’ve got an influx of TAM. You’ve got a potential DP spot if you wanna buy down the cap hit of Osvaldo Alonso, if you don’t just want to trade or sell him outright. You’ve got a handful of potential Homegrown Players you could sign to their first professional contract. You’ve got trades you could make, free agents to sign, players to release. So many options.

So, now that you’re the person in charge, what are you going to do?
