TUKWILA, Wash. -- It was a rather subdued first day of official preseason training for the Seattle Sounders. Nicolas Lodeiro was the only first-teamer to train outside, where he was joined by a group of Sounders Academy and S2 players as well as a few trialists.
There were also about a dozen fans in attendance, a far cry from the crowd that welcomed the team back to training when they were defending MLS Cup champions a year ago. Unlike last year, though, the Sounders did virtually nothing to publicize this training session, likely realizing that the bulk of the first-team players would train indoors as the team prepared to leave for their Chula Vista, Calif. portion of preseason later in the day.
