Rumors come and go. Sometimes here at Sounder at Heart we can corroborate them, other times we cannot. A rumor emerged from Gianluca Di Marzio that Seattle Sounders FC 2 player Francisco Narbon was getting a look from two Italian clubs, a Swiss club and Dinamo Zaghreb*.
Narbon has a European passport and occasionally represents Panama, so it seems like he should be in a better league than the USL, but it looks like he will remain here for now.
A Sounders spokesperson indicated to Sounder at Heart that Narbon trained in Europe during the Winter, but is now back with the club.
The Narbon and Ray Saari pairing was quite strong for S2, but took time to develop. In 2018 they can be veteran anchors on a quite young squad.
For an organization that likes to do right by its players it makes sense to let a USL player attempt to find a new team, even if it means no transfer fee. Negotiating over a tiny fee and having things held up could be worse for the future of the club than just letting the player go and use S2 as a step in their career.
*you may remember Dinamo Zaghreb as the team with former transfer target Hilal Soudani. Soudani is currently under contract and subject of a transfer rumor involving Nottingham Forest.
