RECAP: The 2-1 win puts Seattle Sounders FC into their 10th straight appearance in the MLS Cup playoffs. It is the third straight season with a poor start and a massive run in the second half that pushed them into the playoffs.

Orlando City SC now holds the record for most goals given up in a 34-game season. They have two games to play on the year.

Seattle’s goals came in the 3rd and 13th minute. Victor Rodriguez scored his fifth of the year and Handwalla Bwana netted his 2nd.

UPDATE (57’): The Sounders dominated the first 15 minutes, going up 2-0 rapidly. The goals by Victor Rodriguez and Handwalla Bwana allowed Seattle to play casually against an Orlando. In the second half City played more evenly, and eventually put a goal in the net as Scott Sutter fed a cross to Dom Dwyer.

Sutter was rather clearly offside.

LINEUPS: Less than 24 hours after playing played 90 minutes for the Peru national team, Raúl Ruidíaz will be on the the bench for the Seattle Sounders as they play Orlando City SC on Wednesday. The other particularly notable thing about the lineup is that there’s only one change from the Sounders’ last game, with Handwalla Bwana replacing Nicolás Lodeiro in the midfield. Jordy Delem was unable to play in Martinique’s second Nations League match, meaning he was somewhat unexpectedly available for this one.

Lodeiro and Gustav Svensson — who were also on international duty — are scheduled to meet up with the team in Houston, while Román Torres continues to recover from a knee contusion.

The Sounders will be wearing black arm bands in honor of Paul Allen, who was the team’s co-owner.

Two teams ripped apart by international duty will play a scintillating game of soccer. Previously when the Seattle Sounders had this level of talent they were a strong defense and poor attack, which is what Orlando City SC are even when they have a full selection. Anyone making a prediction would suggest this is a game with at most two goals, so you should watch, because I’m never right.

The Sounders clinch a playoff spot with a win or a draw. They could even wake up tomorrow to find themselves as high as third if Sporting KC loses at Vancouver later tonight.

Absences: Injury, international duty and suspension

Seattle: Gustav Svensson, Raul Ruidiaz, Nicolas Lodeiro, and Jordy Delem are out on international duty. Jordan Morris, Felix Chenkam, Harry Shipp, and Brad Smith are still out with injuries. Roman Torres is listed as questionable.

Lions: Yoshi Yotun, Mohamed El-Munir, and Amro Tarek are all out on international duty. Yotun is also suspended. Mason Stajduhar, Pierre Da Silva, and Jonathan Spector are out injured. Stefano Pinho is questionable.

No Orlando City players are in danger of suspension due to accumulation with their next yellow. Osvaldo Alonso and Jordy Delem will be suspended for accumulation with their next yellow.
