If you’ve been on social media anywhere in Cascadia you have likely encountered the efforts of the Cascadian Gamers to make the world better through dice, d-pads and any other game you might enjoy. This is no fun run or long distance walk; instead, these denizens of our region will play games for 25 hours to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network.
Their goal this year is to raise $50,000. One of the ways they are doing that is through the Super Mega Raffle(tm). This raffle gathers assorted gaming and soccer donations from people and companies based in British Columbia, Washington, and Oregon and raffles them off to people who support Cascadian Gamers.
The raffle has two main tiers, as well as side quests. At the $50 donation level there are massive prizes like the ability to run Sounder at Heart for a day.
The winner of that prize (not limited to just Sounders fans, though if a non-Sounders fan doesn’t want the prize they can give it back) will get a Sounder at Heart shirt/hoodie of their choice, attend a team practice with myself, interview at least one player, write a story about it, and direct SaH staff to cover at least one story.
Other prizes at the $50 level that will be of interest to Seattle-area soccer fans include:
- Clint Dempsey autographed kit top, Super Cyan (Dempsey / #2) - M
- Jhon Kennedy Hurtado autographed 2009 warmup kit top (no name on back, 34 on front) - L
- Sounders team autographed kit top, Rave Green - XL
- Nico Lodeiro autographed kit top, white - L
- Harry Shipp autographed kit top, Rave Green - XL
- Brad Smith autographed kit top, Rave Green - XL
- Alex Roldan autographed kit top, Rave Green - XL
- Clint Dempsey match-worn Nike Hypervenom boot, red - Elyse, Jack - size 10.5
- Will Bruin autographed match-worn Pride numbers kit top
- Limited Edition You Shall Not Pass scarf in Sounders colorway, signed and numbered by Stefan Frei
- Reign team autographed pre-season match-worn keeper kit, magenta (NNOB, #38) - L
- Reign team autographed pre-season match-worn field kit top, blue (NNOB, #11) - L
That’s a great set of prizes, and that’s less than a third of the swag available to win in the Cascadian Gamers raffle.
At the $10 level there are even more prizes. They include a Magnus Wolff Eikrem signed jersey, which is awesome. Visit the donation page for a complete list, including board games, video games, shirts, patches, gift certificates, gear from the other Cascadia teams, and much more.
You can support any of the Cascadian Gamers by visiting their Extra Life donation page. Sounder at Heart resident hype artist LikkitP is among the participants.

Below is the message Cascadian Gamers participants sent describing their objectives and the charitable goal of the fundraiser.
Dear Friends, Family, and Followers:
It’s that time of year again! I’m on a mission to save kids and I need your help. Our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals all around Cascadia treat thousands of children each year, regardless of their family’s ability to pay. These kids are facing scary stuff like cancer, cystic fibrosis, and injuries from accidents to name just a few.
I’ll be participating in this huge worldwide celebration of the social impact of gamers of all kinds from video games to board games and tabletop RPG’s on November 3rd and 4th! Since 2008, Extra Life has raised more than $22 million to help children’s hospitals provide critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment, research and charitable care. It’s our sincere hope that you’ll find it in your heart to support our efforts with a monthly pledge or one-time gift that will go directly to one of our hospitals.
Your donation is tax-deductible and ALL PROCEEDS go to help kids. All of it. Every last bit of it!
I’ll be playing games, streaming, and raffling off all sorts of prizes from collectibles to videogames, as well as some priceless items during the Extra Life event from noon on November 3rd to noon on November 4th, 2018! That’s 25 hours...FOR THE KIDS.
You can follow us on Twitter at @CascadianGamers for all the latest information!
Again, you can donate (with the chance to run Sounder at Heart for a day!) over at the Extra Life page for the Cascadian Gamers.
