Congratulations to Víctor Rodríguez for winning @MLS Goal of the Week! pic.twitter.com/zOXyVwfQPl
Perhaps a tad bit undervalued at the time, Rodriguez’s goal is actually quite amazing. His ability to track the ball over his shoulder, gain his positioning, and take it first time with a jumping volley that chips the goalkeeper is pretty remarkable. I think there’s a likelihood if he were to try that 9 more times, all 9 go over the bar. Or, you know, Orlando’s defenders could actually defend. Nevertheless, it’s a great goal.
However good Victor’s goal is, it is a bit surprising to see it win over this free kick golazo from Wayne Rooney.
Pure class. @WayneRooney midweek magic. ✨#DCU | #DCvTOR 1-0 pic.twitter.com/zhYwM0JZTG

Considering his star power and recognition around the world, one would have surely thought this free kick would’ve put Wayne over the top. But, Sounders’ fans had a different idea.
Congrats Victor!
