Nico Lodeiro is having a very good week

He’s been named to FIFA’s team of the week, MLS’s Best XI and been called up to Uruguay, again.

Nicolas Lodeiro’s week keeps getting better. What started with a trio of assists that gave him the single game, single season and career Seattle Sounders records has been recognized by getting named to team of the week for both MLS and EA’s FIFA.

The latest honor is probably the one that will mean the most to him, though, as Lodeiro has again been named to Uruguay’s national team roster for a pair of November friendlies.

Although Lodeiro was called up for a pair of friendlies this month, he did not play against Japan or South Korea. But this is now the third straight international window in which Lodeiro has been summoned by La Celeste, suggesting he remains part of their national team plans despite being one of the last players cut from the World Cup squad.

These friendlies do not come at a particularly opportune time, though, as they come in the middle of the playoffs. Like they have in previous years, MLS will at least be taking a break and Lodeiro shouldn’t have to miss any games, even if the Sounders are still playing.
