FULL-TIME: The Sounders scored a decisive 4-1 win over a depleted Houston Dynamo, moving to within two points of playoff qualification on Monday. The Sounders got goals from Will Bruin, Cristian Roldan and two from Victor Rodriguez as they dominated the first 80 minutes before easing up a bit over the final 10 and conceding a goal to DeMarcus Beasley.
The Sounders will clinch a playoff spot with another win or two more ties in their final three games.
SOUNDERS 4, DYNAMO 1: The Dynamo finally turned the tide around the 80th minute and finally broke through in the 87th when DeMarcus Beasley beat Stefan Frei from close range.

SOUNDERS 4, DYNAMO 0: If Victor Rodriguez’s confidence wasn’t back already, it surely is now. The Sounders midfielder added a second goal in the 73rd, working a give and go with Handwalla Bwana and firing it inside the far post. It was Bwana’s first career assist.
How about that assist for @handwalla? 4-0 Seattle pic.twitter.com/QaCWkJFo4T

SOUNDERS 3, DYNAMO: Victor Rodriguez added a third goal, putting away a Kelvin Leerdam cross after a Will Bruin dummy. Rodriguez’s shot deflected off a Houston defender. It was Leerdam’s second straight game with an assist and Rodriguez’s second straight with a goal.

SOUNDERS 2, DYNAMO 0: The Sounders added another in the 34th minute, again scoring in transition. This time it was started with Osvaldo Alonso winning possession at the top of the penalty area and then pushing it ahead to Lodeiro. After winding his way through several defenders, Lodeiro found Cristian Roldan wide open on the wing. A couple touches later, Roldan blasted it into the net.

SOUNDERS 1, DYNAMO 0: Will Bruin gave the Sounders an early lead when collected a cross from Cristian Roldan, spun and fired a left-footed shot into the top corner. It was Bruin’s fourth straight game against his former team in which he’s scored. Bruin had been in a bit of a scoring slump, having not found the net since Aug. 4.

LINEUPS: After much speculation and concern, the Seattle Sounders were apparently able to convince Uruguay to allow Nicolás Lodeiro to remain with them for an additional day. As a result, the Sounders are able to roll out a 4-2-3-1 that doesn’t look particularly cobbled together. Lodeiro will start in the middle, flanked by Cristian Roldan and Victor Rodriguez, with Jordy Delem and Osvaldo Alonso. The back four is essentially all the normal starters, while Will Bruin is starting in place of Raúl Ruidíaz.
The Houston Dynamo, meanwhile, are without Romell Quioto and Alberth Elis.
As the drizzle comes down on NFL-lineless CenturyLink Field both teams will be focused on how their reduced attacks can hold up. At least two players from each team are gone, joining their national team, so the Seattle Sounders and Houston Dynamo will count on depth. This match was rescheduled due to the combination of a major concert (JAY-Z and Beyonce) and a Seahawks game. The surface may not play true this evening.
Absences: Injury, international duty and suspension
Seattle: Both teams claim no one has been called up, per gamenotes. This is wrong. Felix Chenkam, Jordan Morris, Harry Shipp and Brad Smith are out due to injury. Raul Ruidiaz and Gustav Svensson are not at the match.
Dynamo: Both teams claim no one has been called up, per gamenotes. This is wrong. Philippe Senderos, Eric Alexander, Jared Watts, and Mac Steeves are out due to injury.
Osvaldo Alonso, Jordy Delem, Boniek Garcia, Adam Lundqvist, and Darwin Ceren are a single yellow away from an accumulation suspension. The following players are two yellows from an accumulation suspension — Cristian Roldan, Jordan McCrary, Nouhou, Alejandro Fuenmayor, Leonardo, Tomas Martinez.
Drew Fischer is the center referee. His video assistant is Allen Chapman.
