After earning recognition as a All-USL second team right back, and making the 20-Under-20 list for the league, Denso Ulysse inked a new contract with Seattle Sounders’ USL organization. The speedy right back will be able to flash along the touchline at Cheney Stadium under the new identity for the Rainiers/Sounders partnership in the USL Championship. Nick Hinds, Shandon Hopeau, Antonee Burke-Gilroy, and Jesse Daley all had options picked up.
Former Academy players (some still young enough that they still play USSDA matches) Sam Rogers, Marlon Vargas, Azriel Gonzalez, Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez, and Ray Serrano were all already under contract. Three other Academy players that plied their trade with S2 as amateurs playing up already signed 2019 contracts — Alec Diaz, Danny Leyva, and Danny Robles.
S2-be-named returns 13 players, a franchise record. Ten of the 13 are still teenagers.
Jalen Markey (former Academy) and Ibrahim Usman had their options declined.
David Olsen (former Academy), Fransisco Narbon, and Rodrigue Ele (also on the 20-under-20 list) were out of contract and will not return to the club.
David Estrada’s future is expected to be made known in the coming weeks. Estrada had the best scoring year of his nine-year career. S2 was the ninth club he’s played with across MLS, MLS Reserve League, the NASL and the USL.
