TIFO: ECS put together a well designed choreo that displayed the message “For Seattle, For Sounders, Forever” along with plastic sheets that spelled out “SFC” and then flipped to read “TID” and then “SFC,” again.

LINEUPS: As expected, the Seattle Sounders made two changes to their starting lineup as Román Torres replaces Chad Marshall and Harry Shipp replaces Cristian Roldan. Also of note, Brad Smith did not make the 18. Instead, Jordan McCrary and Alex Roldan will be newly available.
The somewhat more surprising changes are on the Timbers side. Most notable is the insertion of Andres Flores, who replaces the injured David Guzman. Alvas Powell and Larrys Mabalia are in for Zarek Valentin and Bill Tuiloma, respectively.
There are must-win games in November. Tonight’s game is one of those. The Seattle Sounders must win, preferably by two or more goals. The Portland Timbers have the advantage due to their 2-1 win in leg one. But that away goal may enter play — if the Sounders and Stefan Frei can notch a shutout and Raúl Ruidíaz, Nicolas Lodeiro and crew can score a single goal the Sounders advance.
In many ways it is fitting that this potential final match is against Seattle’s biggest rival. It’s the narrative required in this year that feels like a movie.
It is on this night when we are the inspiration. It is on this night when we are heard. It is on this night when we can give everything, or sit at home during the depths of winter.
This is leg two of a two-leg aggregate goal series. Portland leads 2-1. The Sounders will advance to the Western Conference Finals if they win by two or more goals or win 1-nil. There will be extra time if the Sounders win 2-1. Kicks from the spot will be taken if the aggregate score is tied at the end of extra time. The Timbers advance with a victory, a draw, or a one-goal loss in which they score.
Absences: Injury, international duty and suspension
Seattle: Felix Chenkam, Chad Marshall and Jordan Morris are out. Cristian Roldan and Brad Smith are questionable.
Timbers: Roy Miller and Jake Gleeson are out. David Guzman and Samuel Armenteros are questionable.
Gustav Svensson, Diego Chara and Liam Ridgewell will miss their next playoff match if their team advances and they take a yellow card in this game. Accumulation does not carry over to the 2019 regular season.
Jair Marrufo is the center referee. His video assistant is Chris Penso.
