Brad Evans ‘hasn’t gone anywhere yet’

Brad Evans is a free agent and currently training with Sporting Kansas City. To hear KC head coach Peter Vermes tell it, Evans is likely to sign there if he can “get back to full strength.” That doesn’t seem to bode well for his future with the Seattle Sounders.

Sounders head coach Brian Schmetzer wasn’t quite ready to close the book, though.

“He means a lot to the club, he hasn’t gone anywhere yet,” Schmetzer said. “The players fought hard for free agency, that’s their right and Brad is certainly dipping his toe in the water, that’s his right.

“But the way I look at it is he’s been here since ’09. He’s one of the originals. There’s a saying out there, ‘once a Sounder, always a Sounder.’ Whatever happens, we’ll always be appreciative of Brad’s efforts and he’ll always be a Sounder.”
