S2 has reportedly signed Nigerian left back

Ibrahim Usman is said to be on his way to Washington this week.

Reports out of Nigeria state the Seattle Sounders have just signed 18-year-old left back, Ibrahim Usman. Nigerian football news outlet, Own Goal Nigeria, put out a report today stating that Usman is making the move from Eco FC to S2. This is the same player Metro reported as being close to joining the Sounders back in December.

Eco Football Club has produced a number of players that have gone on to careers in Europe, and most recently, sent a new addition to MLS. Usman’s former teammate and fellow defender, Muhammed Saleh, just signed on with Toronto FC II.

The report ties the Usman signing to a December scouting trip by agent Damani Ralph, the same scouting trip that sent Saleh to Canada.

There’s not much known about this player, but the Nigerian report states that Usman is “technically gifted”, “almost six feet” and “quick.” The signing would fit the mold of the type of player S2 has been looking at.
