Seattle Sounders vs. California United FC, preseason: Highlights, stats and quotes

“Whenever you score goals, no matter who you’re playing or what the circumstances are, it gives you some confidence.” –Jordan Morris

With two goals each from Chad Marshall and Jordan Morris, and one apiece from Nicolas Lodeiro and Cristian Roldan, the Seattle Sounders defeated California United FC with a lopsided scoreline in the first of a pair of matches against the UPSL side. Wednesday’s 6-0 victory should not be a surprise in a training match against a lower-division opponent, but fans should be encouraged by the effectiveness of the Sounders’ offense over the 75-minute scrimmage.

The Sounders faced Cal United FC again Thursday morning, winning 5-1 (stats and highlights to come). The team returns to Seattle Thursday evening to continue their preseason training.
